Japanese Interior Lighting: Antique Andon, Paper Lamps & Lanterns
We sell both new and old lights and lamps, all designed to create a calming and tranquil Japanese atmosphere through soft, diffused light.
The Andon is the classic Japanese lamp, popular during the Edo period, consisting of paper stretched over a frame of bamboo, wood, or metal. The paper protected the flame from the wind. The most common indoor version was the Okiandon (Large Lamp). Our collection includes original antique Andon and beautiful antique lanterns alongside modern pieces.
Regulatory and Installation Note
All of our lamps are wired up to meet Australian Standards. Note that ceiling/wall lamps require hard wiring by a licensed electrical contractor.
