Antique and Contemporary Japanese Folding Screens (Byobu)
A Byobu (literally, "wind wall") is a traditional Japanese folding screen composed of several multi-panel sections. Originally imported from China and used functionally to block drafts, the Byobu quickly evolved into a spectacular, mobile form of Japanese fine art and decoration.
Our collection features a range of pieces, including grand antique screens and smaller, contemporary designs suitable for modern interiors. Serving as stunning room dividers or decorative backdrops, Byobu screens are prized for their versatility and ability to dramatically transform an interior space.
