Authentic Japanese Za isu (Legless Chairs) & Traditional Bath Stools

The Za isu is the name for the traditional legless chair used in Japanese homes and restaurants. As is customary in Japan, shoes are removed when entering a house, and seating often takes place on the floor. The Za isu provides a crucial level of lower back support and comfort, making sitting on the floor for extended periods less tiring.

Za isu come in a variety of styles; some include padded cushions, while others feature a hole in the bottom to accommodate a Zabuton (cushion) for added comfort. We also feature authentic Japanese bath stools on this page.

Sourcing Transparency: While we source our Za isu from our suppliers in Japan, for manufacturing reasons, they are currently made in Taiwan.

Note on Bath Stools: We remain committed to sourcing the genuine wooden hinoki bath stools from Japan. However, due to production and export challenges, we have been struggling to source these traditional wooden stools consistently. Please enquire directly for current stock availability.

To enquire about our current collection, please call the shop at 07 5576 4488 or email.
