Japanese Koto
The Koto is the national instrument of Japan, a majestic stringed zither known for its elegant form and hauntingly beautiful sound. This mid-Showa period example is crafted from traditional Paulownia wood, prized for its resonant qualities. Measuring nearly 1.8 metres in length, it serves as both a functional musical instrument and a striking decorative statement piece. It comes complete with its bridges (ji) and a protective cover, preserving the craftsmanship of the 1960s. Whether for a practitioner or a collector of Japanese cultural artefacts, this Koto represents the refined musical heritage of the Showa era.
