Fukuroi (Station No. 28) is one of the most charming genre scenes in Hiroshige's Tōkaidō series. Rather than focusing on a grand landscape, this print captures a moment of rest at a wayside tea stall. Travellers are shown gathered around a large kettle boiling over an open fire, while a woman prepares food. The large kite flying in the background and the flat rice fields emphasize the breezy, open atmosphere of the Enshū region. This Shōwa-era edition beautifully renders the warmth of the fire and the peaceful pace of life along the Tōkaidō road.
