Authentic Antique Cha Dansu / Cha Dana: Japanese Tea Chests

The Cha Dansu (also known as Cha Dana or Tea Shelf) is one of the most aesthetically pleasing forms of Japanese antique furniture. Traditionally used to store the utensils and implements for the Japanese tea ceremony, these beautiful Tansu pieces often feature small glass doors, varied compartments, and intricate details. While they originated during the Meiji and Taisho periods, they are still highly sought-after today.

With their smaller, compact size, these pieces function perfectly in a modern setting as distinctive cabinets for glassware, unique kitchen storage, or beautiful display cases for Japanese antiques.

Our Commitment: Every antique Tansu is meticulously preserved and never stripped, using our gentle Beeswax and Orange Oil finish to maintain its original colour and integrity. All pieces are professionally fumigated for secure import into Australia.
