This substantial Tamba-yaki stoneware bottle was originally used for storing shoyu. The incised merchant's mark on the shoulder identifies it as a deposit bottle, once returned for refills. Recovered from the sea, it features authentic barnacles on the base and a glaze softened by currents. A rare, sea-aged example of utilitarian "Mingei" folk-art and Japanese coastal history.
